ISSUE 01
Welcome to the Rhythm Zero newsletter!
Echoing our motto of Coffee Culture—Art Philosophy, this newsletter is more than just news—it’s a celebration of the people, creativity, and ideas that make Rhythm Zero more than a cafe.
Meet Ivana & Aleks
Originally from Serbia, Ivana and Aleks came to New York after winning the green card lottery. With Ivana’s art and design background, she curates Rhythm Zero’s rotating art exhibits and collaborates with local talent, transforming the space into an evolving gallery. Meanwhile, Aleks, with his passion for bringing people together, has built a coffee program that’s as inviting as it is intentional.
Since opening in Greenpoint in October 2022, Rhythm Zero has become a vibrant gathering spot, a place where locals start their day, connect, and return for its authentic vibe. In June 2024, Ivana and Aleks expanded their vision with a second location in the West Village, teaming up with Bandit Running’s Tim and Nick West to create a shared space blending coffee, creativity, and culture.
What’s the secret to their success? It’s more than coffee—it’s a genuine effort to foster connection, celebrate artistry, and reflect their Serbian roots.
A self-described zhuzh’r and “sparkle sparkler,” Monty has been a New York resident since 2011 (give or take a few breaks). She is a stylist with a flair for transformation, known for crafting looks that are as dynamic and ever-evolving as the person wearing them. We’ve gotten to know Monty as a Rhythm Zero regular since our earliest days—literally. “Week 1, baby!” she proclaims, recalling how she’d peer through the windows during construction, curious about what seemed to be a gallery. “I was thrilled to learn this ‘gallery’ also serves coffee.”
So, what keeps Monty coming back? Beyond the convenient location, it’s the unbeatable combo of stellar drinks, stylish decor, vibrant energy, and the kind of crowd that feels like family. For Monty, Rhythm Zero is more than a cafe—it’s her office, networking hub, and second home.
The great big beautiful way my 15 month old experiences and finds joy in the world.
“Do the weirdest thing” (Podcast and the article it’s based on.)
The neon orange sunset/cotton candy sky we had at the end of October. I can’t stop thinking about it.
Space to create. Inspiration is just another thing until it finds a place to blossom into an idea.
